Jean L. Blackburn, age 73, a resident of Clare Oaks in Bartlett and formerly a longtime resident of Schaumburg, died peacefully on Saturday, February 23, surrounded by her daughters. She was born on April 27, 1939 in Chicago to Vernon and Sally Dallman.
Jean grew up in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Chicago. She met James Blackburn at Jefferson Bowl. They married on August 25, 1968 and soon moved to Schaumburg. She worked at Jewel Food Stores for many years. While raising her daughters she worked at Campanelli Elementary School as a lunch supervisor for several years. Later she worked as a church secretary for Christ the King and Grace Lutheran Churches. She retired from Harper College where she worked as a bookkeeper.
She enjoyed bowling, craft shows and shopping. She had a giving heart and loving soul.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Blackburn of Schaumburg, and Julie (Peter) Zibble of Geneva, two grandchildren, Ethan (7) and Callie (5), three in-laws, Donald (Dottie) Blackburn, Mary Holland and Patricia DiMichele, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James and her parents.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 1 to 3 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
